Off-Campus Housing

1) Hasook-Jib

The second option is the off-campus dormitory called Hasook-jib. No deposit or contract is required. Rent is about 450,000 won per month, including two meals a day, for your own private room. Just like the on-campus dormitory, there is a shared kitchen and laundry facilities. There are plenty of Hasook-jib in the Sinchon area around Yonsei. Similar to a Hasook-jib is a place called a Go-shi-won. They cost less than Ha-sook-jib (about 300,000 won per month), but do not include meals, and the rooms tend to be considerably smaller.

2) Studio

Another option is to get your own apartment or studio. These are usually arranged through a Korean real estate agent. Generally, you have to pay a large deposit fee (minimum of 5,000,000 won), sign a one-year contract, and then pay about 500,000 won per month. The high deposit fee makes this option difficult for the majority of students.
