The Regular Program is designed for those who wish to study Korean language systematically for more than 3 months, to apply for the undergraduate or graduate universities in Korea or to have a good command of Korean for business or trade. At present, approximately 1,000 students from 60 countries enroll in every term. So, students can not only learn and exchange various cultures of the world but also learn Korean language and Korean culture with students who came from around 60 countries each term. The Regular Program offers 6 Level Regular Course and 8 Level Regular Course. It takes one and a half years to complete the 6 Level Regular course from the beginning level. It takes two years to complete the 8 Level Regular course from the beginning level. 8 Level Regular Course is designed for those who may experience difficulty in learning Korean due to the differences between the Korean language and students’ native language. The students in 8 Level Regular Course will, especially, be able to adjust to the Korean life-style and understand the characteristics of the Korean language. Classes are offered 5 days a week (from 9:00 to 13:00) for 10 weeks (total 200 class hours)).

The Afternoon Program is designed for students, business people, housewives or anyone who wishes to study Korean in the afternoon. As a supplement to the Regular Program, this course is ideal for those who want to become more proficient in Korean. This course not only includes daily Korean conversation but also includes in depth look into Korean culture as well as various other activities. Six levels will be offered according to the students’ Korean language proficiency. Please note that some classes may not be offered due to lack of students interest. Classes are offered 3 hours a day (from 14:00 to 16:50), 4 days a week (M/T/T/F) for 10 weeks (total 120 class hours).

The Evening Program is designed for diplomats, professors, businessmen, bankers and anyone who cannot participate in the Regular Program due to their daytime work. The program focuses on enhancing communication proficiency, which is essential for business people living in Korea. Classes are offered 3 class hours a day (from 18:30 to 21:00), 3 days a week (M/T/T) for 10 weeks (total 90 class hours).

The Specialized Program is designed for those who wish to have good command of Korean language in a professional area or learn the Korean language in areas such as news, current events, and literature. Only those who have graduated from KLI or who have the equivalent qualification can apply for this program. Students can attend this program 2 times. This program is held 2 hours a day in the afternoon (from 13:40 to 15:20), 10 hours a week and 100 hours a term (10 weeks).

The 5-week Summer Special Program is for students (mostly Korean-American) who wish to take advantage of their summer vacation to learn Korean and have good opportunity to experience the Korean culture. There is an optional 3 day field trip that allows the students to visit historic sites. Through the field trip, students are able to see the ancient culture site, modern industrial facility and correctly understand Korean history. After their Korean language class in the morning, they can experience a variety of special activities in the afternoon (2 days a week, 2 hours a day). Students can experience the Korean culture through one of the Special Activities which are Korean Pottery, Oriental Painting, Taekwondo, Korean Cooking, Korean Movies and Korean Songs. Korean classes are held 5 days a week (from 9:00 to 13:00) for 5 weeks (total 100 class hours).

The 3 Week Program is designed for students (mostly Japanese students) who wish to take advantage of their summer or spring vacation to learn Korean and Korean culture. Students can experience various special activities such as Korean Cooking, Taekwondo, Samulnori in the afternoon (1 or 2 days a week, 2 hours a day). Korean Classes are held 5 days a week (from 9:00 to 13:00) for 3 weeks (total 60 class hours).

When there is a request by any foreign organization, such as a private business or a Diplomatic Mission to Korea, classes are organized for its members. All teachers are highly qualified and experienced and use effective, modern teaching methods.
Such classes are conducted either at KLI or at a placed designated by the organization.
