Summer Special Program is designed for students to learn Korean and experience Korean culture during the 5-week summer vacation.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM (4 hours per day), totaling 100 hours over 5 weeks.
Frequency: The program runs once a year.
Class Size: Each class consists of approximately 15 students.
Cultural Activities: - Korean Language Classes: Intensive Korean language sessions in the morning. - Cultural Experiences: A special activity of Korean cooking will take place in the afternoon. (Participation is optional through prior registration.) - Field Trip: A program to explore Korea's representative cultural landmarks, such as COEX, Gyeongbokgung Palace, and Namsan, is available.(Participation is optional through prior registration.)

Regardless of whether it is the day before the semester starts, application fees, afternoon special activities, and expenses for Korean cultural activities are non-refundable. Refund requests are applicable to tuition only.
If requesting a refund to an overseas account, the bank fees will be excluded.
In case where a class is canceled due to insufficient applicants, a full refund will be issued including application fee.
Classes will be placed based on placement test result.
If there are 5 or fewer students assigned in a class, a class will not be opened.
Attendance of at least 80% (80 hours) of the total class time is required for certification.
Grades are determined based on attendance, participation in class, quizzes, final exams, etc. However, the required attendance time for certification only includes Korean language classes.
Summer special programs are equivalent to 3 credits. However, we recommend you to contact your home institution in advance regarding credit transfer.
Certificate of Enrollment and official transcript can be issued upon request.
Student ID number for dormitory application is issued after tuition fee is paid.
Please make a payment in advance in order to apply to dormitory.
KLI studnet information is linked to Yonsei portal(Dormitory application website) once a day, and Yonsei portal login is available from the next day of student ID issuance.

Yonsei Korean Language Institute offers afternoon cultural activities for students participating in the Summer Special Program, providing opportunities to experience Korean culture. The Korean cooking practice classes will be held approximately 6 times over the course of 3 weeks(July 7th ~ July 22nd).
The specific details and schedule will be provided during the orientation before the class starts.
The afternoon cultural activities are available on an optional basis for those who have registered in advance and does not count toward the attendance hours required for course completion.
The content of afternoon cultural activities may be subject to change based on the KLI or instructor circumstances.

※ If the minimum number of participants is not met, the cooking class will be canceled, and it will be refunded after May 9th.

1. Korean Cooking Class
Students will learn about the background and characteristics of Korean cuisine, enhancing their understanding of Korean food culture. Through team-based practical activities, they will foster closer relationships with friends and be introduced to Korean food for the first time. The cooking practice will provide a lively and energetic afternoon, and they will be able to reminisce about the Korean dishes they have made when they return to their home country.
Students may sign up for the menu they want on the dates they prefer. They may register for just one menu or for all three menus.
Examples:
July 7: Grilled marinated pork ribs , July 14: Royal Stir-fried Rice Cake, July 22: Dakgalbi with Vegetables (O)
July 7 & July 8: Grilled marinated pork ribs (X): Registering for the same dish more than once is not allowed.

*Kimchi and rice will be provided, and if there is any meat that cannot be consumed, it will be replaced with mushrooms and seafood.
Yonsei Korean Language Institute organizes a cultural exploration field trip for students in the Summer Special Program to experience Korean culture and history. The field trip takes place on a weekend day during the semester, departing at 8 a.m. and returning to the school around 6~7 p.m. The field trip is available only to those who register in advance and is not mandatory.
[Cost]: 160,000 KRW per session.
